We are back from yet another moped holiday. The whole trip was in the mainland this time, no long bridges or ferrys. Our goal was to go as far north as possible in the time we had. We went to Silkeborg as our turning point, the area there has some of denmarks tallest “mountains” with over 140 meters, lots of lakes and beautiful nature.

Veldig god video, hilsen fra Norge
I'm at a loss and need help please. I was convicted by others to upgrade my 49cc vespa piaggio grande to a higher Bore: 46 Stroke: 43 Displacement: 72. So I honed out the case. Fits rather well. Then I try and do the computation for inlet timing and nothing computer leading me to believe I've been talked into something impossible. Is there anything I can do at this point?
You could try the easy way, take the Malossi or Polini cylinder manual. It was crankshaft grinding recommendations with how many mm you need to take of the opening and closing edges.
@CarstenLorenzen12V Many thanks ill look it up there :)
Hello, can you make a video to show me how to properly connect the rev limiter, I have a Piaggio, just like yours, and it nubmerges faster than 50km per hour

A little over 70.

Thanks for the vid, I opened up the flow path in my Kinetic moped as you show, except I went with a 12mm carb opening, for some more strength in that tube, (looking for a bit more umph) after making a twin muffled expansion pipe (the pipe added 5 mph) and going with a 13;13 carb. I was curious if the porting would add anything to the low end- it did nothing there, but added some power to the goal of a 30 to 35 mph range. Mike
hey nice video! ive watched it many times. Hope you can answer even though its such an old video. I was just wondering: are the crankshaft bearings lubricated from the fuel/oil mixture or did you put some bearing grease there?
They are lubricated by the oil in the gasoline. I may have used sealed bearings where i removed the seals, hence the grease residue. It's fine, gives lubrication on the start up. If you have "dry" bearings, give them a few drops of oil.
@@CarstenLorenzen12V ok thanks! I might have used bearing grease on the bearings before installing. Do you think it's best to open up and remove it or do you think it will wear off?
@@andersbacklund6224 it wears of over time. No biggie.
@@CarstenLorenzen12V ok thanks for the info!

Will 75cc Cylinder fit onto original carters?
Max 63 ccm with 43 mm piston. For the larger 46-47 mm piston versions, you need to spindle the opening larger, or get a tuning casing like Malossi MP One, Polini speed enige, pinasco power casing.
Thanks@@CarstenLorenzen12V
Wow sir that motor sounds great, you did a good job

Hi crasten How can I talk to you? I need some advice for my piaggio si engine. I have some photos of the crankcase id like to send you so if you hqve another way of communication id like to talk with you
Hi, sadly i have limited time for support. If you are on Facebook, there are some good user groups for these mopeds and engines.
Wtf lol😊
Soo i have Piaggio Vespa SuperBravo 2 with 2 speed gearbox, do i have to change oil on the gearbox? and if yes how do i change it?
Yes it also needs changing, but i know nothing about this type.
Hello, approx. how many miles can an original engine, cylinder and piston go? Ofcourse with maintenance. Thanks.
I would guess around 30.000 km, at that point I've seen the wear on the cylinder kit to be over the max. specs. But many factors have a play here. All the worn parts are easy/cheap to replace.
@@CarstenLorenzen12V Okay. Thank you. I read someone mentioned an original Piaggio engine, cylinder and piston can go as far as a 100.000 km

Great video! what measurments are there on the flywheel puller?
I haven't measured, just bought it. Most moped shops have it in their catalogue.
90kmh realistic
Yes solid 90+ km/h on the GPS, close to 100 km/h possible with the head between your legs ;)
Does the engine have to be removed in order to adjust points gap?
No, just remove the clutch/vario, and then you have access to the window in the flywheel.
Best cleaner I've ever used on aluminum isAluminum bright It will make your aluminum cases look Brand New
Great tips this guy knows the correct way to do it make sure to Pay attention!!
Super video.
For store pærer eller dårlige forbindelser, gør problemet værre.
@@CarstenLorenzen12V mange tak for svar 👌

Excellent video! I've got a 1996 Kinetic TFR (Luna) which was made in India using a copy of the Ciao engine but lacks the variator. One of the crankcase bearings failed in my engine. I took it apart and replaced the bearings. After the bearings had failed, I was able to spin it with a drill but not start it. At this point it had 100 PSI of compression. Not that great but not bad. That gasket that goes between the two engine halves they sent me looked like it was cut from an aluminum Pepsi can and did not seal worth a damn and lost compression and sucked in air. After putting the engine back together the compression dropped to 90 PSI and would only run at WOT (lean). I then discovered gas/oil leaking from where the two engine halves go together. I made a paper gasket from the aluminum one I was sent. I put the engine back together but for some reason this time it would not start at all. It took it apart again and accidently broke one of the rings which trying to remove it. I should have replaced them anyway while I had the engine apart. I ordered new rings but got frustrated and quit on it. That was eight years ago. It may have been an unrelated issue (carburetor). I boxed the engine and parts up and pushed it into a storage building and it's sat there ever since. I just recently acquired a 1985 Tomos Silver Bullet. I'm putting a 70cc kit on it. I also have a 1999 Tomos TX-50 dirt bike which uses the A35 engine and transmission. Don't know if these were only sold for the US market. You've inspired me to get my Kinetic out and take another look at this thing. One reason I watched your video is the ring orientation. Seems like the go on a certain way. And that decompression valve! I'll check out your Cioa performance video. My Tomos seems to be restricted to 32 kph. I think because in the 1980s you could ride this if you didn't have a driver's licence. BTW. I live in Tennessee, United States. Interesting enough, the moped laws that were in place in my state years ago seem to be obsolete. I had to register my Silver Bullet as a motorcycle and there is no laws on increasing it's power as long as I don't go over the posted speed limit. I also have to have a standard driver's license (125ccs+ requires a motorcycle license).
Thanks for the interesting read. I hope you get the Vespa copy out on the road again with help from my videos :)
I have a 2001 Kinetic (slower than an old dog - spedo says 30 while radar sign says 25, needs to go at least 30 to avoid being run over in single lanes) - I made an expansion pipe with twin muffs and wrapped the thing in fiberglass to further quiet it, that added 5 mph. Did the 13;13 carb with a 55 jet, and that added a tiny bit of power. But the main restriction appears to be in the engine case, thus I am studying vids here and Carsten's are great (and in English, not Italian- nice). Thank you Carsten!! Mike Oh, Carsten, I have been experimenting with a valve in the exhaust "bleeder" that gives some variable back pressure to regain the low end that is typically lost with the expansion deal. A weighted plunger sits against a seat (nearly vertical pipe) and as flow presses against the plunger, it rises to uncover holes that vent the exhaust into the muffler. The low end seems (as far as I can tell) like stock, and the back pressure increases to just over one pound at 30 mph, the pipe seems to "Hit" at 20 mph.
hello, how do I find the pre-ignition correctly, please?
Make some marks on the flywheel, when the piston is at tdc (top). And then rotate the flywheel counterclockwise to set a mark at the desired position. That could be with the piston 1-2 mm below/before tdc. Adjust the breaker points to open at that moment. You can also use a strobo.
Where did you buy the centrifugal clutch and the other things?
Most is from JMPB in the Netherlands.
@@CarstenLorenzen12V And how do you start it with the clutch?
@@adam2009 push the bike, or use a pullstart system, like a lawn mower.
Excellent video. Very helpful, thank you.
